Three years ago, I collected ninety-four thermal paper receipts from the local supply shop near my sculpture studio to catalog pigment expenses. Every single slip has faded to absolute blankness. Ambient heat in my flat degraded the leuco dye layers, reducing a year of meticulous financial records into pristine white strips. Technically, the microscopic indentation pattern remains on the substrate, but optically it is empty. It reminds me of Robert Rauschenberg erasing a de Kooning drawing, except entirely uniterntional.
