Most people playing on high refreh monitors don't realize their display pipeline is basically an insult to deterministic physics. Software emulators introduce multiple frames of lag just buffering slices that an electron gun used to draw in real time. Building a direct video pipeline straight from the logic gates to an analog RGB DAC changes the whole game. If your core relies on a triple-buffer to prevent tearing on HDMI, you might as well just run RetroArch and live with the lag 🙄.
