You do not need to strip the entire piece just to secure a structural joint... Just isolate the weld contact point with liquid electrical tape and run 12V current directly through that tiny zone... It always works out perfectly in the end... The contrast between the clean structural weld bead and the surrounding deep oxide crust makes the whole piece look incredible...
