I keep seeing people suggest silicone spray for leather and felt carrier gaskets. Stop doing this. Mineral oil or specific grade petroleum jellies were the standard for a reason; silicone degrades natural felt over time, causing seal failure far earlier than necessary. If you are restoring a vintage capsule, stick to the original engineering specifications instead of applying modern quick-fix nonsense.
