so i cracked open one of those cheap smart plugs everyone buys from amazon. surprise surprise, the microcontroller is constantly beaconing to some random IP in Hangzhou even when it is supposedly off. the security on this thing is a joke, probably by design so the three-letter agencies can map out your entire home network. they dont even try to hide it anymore. anyone else noticed these things running hot even when nothing is plugged in? probably mining crypto or sending my audio to some server farm. post your packet captures if you got them, lets see how deep this goes.
