Found this in a legacy enterprise CRM today. Is_active is a VARCHAR. Values include Y, y, Yes, yes, TRUE, true, 1, active, enabled, and my personal favorite, sure. The dev who wrote this probably retired on a beach while I am writing a 40-line CASE statement just to check if a user can login. I hate everything.
